  26. The Studio fur elektronische Klangerzeugung Dresden (The Dresden Studio of 
  27. electronic Sound Generation) derives from the Electronic Studio of Dresden 
  28. Music College established in 1984.
  29. Developing software which is innovative and meets the demands of musicians and
  30. professionals in the recording fields. Our most famous software is Samplitude.
  31. It runs on a PC for sampling, hard disk recording and sample processing in up 
  32. to 48khz. We value highly the intuition-oriented and simple layout of Samplitude
  33. which enables the beginners to use many professional features. The arrangement 
  34. possibilities in virtual projects with its real time functions offer
  35. features of high-end (D.A.W.) Digital Audio Workstations.

  37. Currently there are three version of Samplitude:
  38. - - Samplitude-Multimedia (2 tracks, virtuel editing, MIDI/AVI integration...)
  39. - - Samplitue-Pro (8 tracks, Resampling/Time-Stretching, MIDI-Sample-Dump...)
  40. - - Samplitude-Studio (16 tracks, ext. Sync.,digital filters, dynamic functions.)

  42. Features of Samplitude:
  43. Samplitude-Multimedia has the following features:
  44. - - Real Hard Disk recording/playback with 
  45.   ALL Windows compatible 16 bit sound cards
  46. - - support of all samplers with sampling rates up to 48 kHz
  47. - - support of mono/stereo projects in recording and playback
  48. - - support of RAM- or Hard Disk Projects
  49. - - "Volume-Rubberbands" for a realtime mix of  the virtual tracks
  50. - - Realtime crossfades in virtual tracks with various curves
  51. - - MIDI and AVI files can be linked to Samplitude, qualified for film score
  52.   composition, MIDI/audio synchronisation ...
  53. - - Direct synch. with MIDI sequencers "Evolution" and "MIDI-Connections"
  54. - - Realtime surround effects
  55. - - physical sample processing in high speed and high quality (e.g. cutting,
  56.   normalisation, fading, crossfading, echo, hall effect, filter...)
  57. - - virtual projects for non-destructive editing, sample objects can be placed,
  58.   shifted (displaced) and manipulated (time-line)
  59. - - ranges of various projects (RAM and HD) can be combined into virtual projects
  60.   e.g. cuttings of various records

  62.   (non-destructive) and easily manipulated by "handlers"

  74. Samplitude-Pro has the following extensions:
  75. - - virtual projects can have up to 8 tracks
  76. - - MIDI sample dump standard for sample transferring with MIDI samplers
  77. - - resampling / time stretching / pitch-shifting
  78. - - track bouncing for converting virtual projects into a physical file 
  79.   (Samplitude project or wave file); up to 16 tracks can be combined.

  81. Samplitude-Studio has following extensions:
  82. - - virtual projects can have up to 16 tracks (16 Mono or 8 Stereo)
  83. - - Record while Playing if the soundcard(s) supports this
  84. - - Support of up to 4 soundcards for real 8 outputs
  85. - - ext. Sync via SMPTE/MTC/MC (Slave) or MC (Master)
  86. - - Runs in multitasking with MIDI-Sequencers, i.e. Cakewalk
  87. - - High quality digital filters (graph. EQ, param. EQ) with realtime preview
  88. - - Dynamics Compressor/Expander/Noise-Gate with realtime preview
  89. - - Convolution for enhanced effects like reverb, echo and filter...

  91. Hardware needed
  92. For using Samplitude you need at least a 80386 with Windows 3.1 and 4 MB RAM.
  93. To record and playback audio data you will need
  94.  a 16 bit sound card with Windows driver.
  95. For "Record while Play" you need a soundcard, 
  96.  which can be opened for input and output at the same time 
  97.  OR two soundcards, one for playback and one for recording.
  98.   ATTN: GUS users - This program WILL work with your card in Simultaneous 
  99.   Record & Play mode!!! You DO NOT need a Tahiti (and SAW) anymore.
  100.   Although a Tahiti IS Superior in Sound Quality & S/N... And you can USE
  101.   BOTH cards simultaneously for 4 (four) OUTPUTS!!!
  102. For hard disk recording an adequate hard disk size will be needed 
  103.  (one minute recording in CD quality requires about 10 MB).
  104. For realtime filter-preview and volume rubberbands on more than 4 tracks 
  105.  you need a 486/66 or Pentium processor.
  106. To use MIDI sample dump or a connection with MIDI devices 
  107.  you must have a Windows-compatible MIDI interface.
  108. For external Sync via SMPTE you need a SMPTE interface, 
  109.  for Sync via MIDI-Timecode or MIDI-Clock 
  110.  you can use any Windows compatible MIDI interface.

  112. Typical number of Tracks (Mono) in virtual projects:
  113. 386/40 with AT-harddrive:             4 tracks 32 KHz
  114. 486/66 with AT-harddrive:             4 tracks 44 KHz, 6-8 tracks 32 KHz
  115. 486/66 with SCSI-harddrive, PCI-Controller: 6-8 tracks 44 KHz
  116. Pentium with PCI-SCSI:                 12 tracks 44KHz , 16 tracks 32 KHz
  117. Using stereo tracks instead of two mono tracks increases the performance.
